It worked.   My trick (once my Explorer is some dick and won't let me rename extensions) with the copied save?   I've put it into a .RAR file and renamed the extension from the inside, then unpacked the save. Edit: Renamed it using Notepad. Here it says that the save file has been deleted. I've used Pokémon Fire Red for this test.
