GBA games don't run

Period. No matter what I do. Just a white screen. Not even 'ROM info' recognizes them.

I know that DirectX is up to date, so I can't imagine what's going on.

They're the same roms I've had for years, though.

My point is that the roms ARE NOT CHANGED.

There is a chance they did change and you didn't notice. If these files did work before, but now they aren't, and multiple programs are all saying they can't read them, then they did in fact change. Viruses, virus scanner false positives, hard drive errors, file system errors, you name it. If a rom reader says there's no rom info, then they got corrupted and are now useless. Best way to be certain is to get the program that ran it before, and test it. If that says it can't, then it's confirmed to be corrupted and lost.

Did it ever occur to you to like, try it on another emulator, at least? Just to "prove" it's VBA-M's fault?

Seriously, how long you've had them for does the opposite of proving whether they've changed over time. The date modified etc. is how you prove if they changed.

I'm not going to argue any of the "points" you guys seem to be trying to make about changes (the files haven't been modified in years, just so you know). But seriously, isn't this the "support" forum, not the "make fun of someone who needs help" forum?

Anyway, I just downloaded a new rom fresh, and it won't run zipped or unzipped, and my other versions of VBA won't run it either. All of my GB/GBC roms I tested run perfectly, and they're in the same folders and everything (e.g. I doubt that only the GBA roms would get corrupted and nothing else).

So all I can figure is that I have the wrong DLLs, or there's something wrong with my codecs. Or both, I dunno.

My hard drive is accessible by both XP (under VMware) and my Mac (Snow Leopard). I doubt that helps much, because I haven't really updated XP except for DirectX/OpenGL since I installed it.

Depending on the archive format, it might require a bunch of different programs, however I would recommend 2 programs that cover a vast majority of archive formats. I won't be surprised if you have one of them already.

7-Zip: http://www.7-zip.org/download.html

Universal Extractor: http://legroom.net/software/uniextract

Please tell us the format of the archive just in case it's an unusual one and isn't covered by either of those programs. If it is covered by them, but it still doesn't extract, then the downloads were never complete and something has caused you to download either just pieces of the files or even something else entirely. Believe me, I've had that happen on many occasions on a lot of sites that require Javascript and cookies active, and it annoys the hell out of me, so if that is the case, I feel your pain. If it isn't the case, then I don't know what's the problem.
