VBA M black screen when trying to load and application not responding

I'm on a mac. When I try to load pokemon leaf green it says the text above but below if I put my cursor there it swirls with colors and if I double click visual boy advance it says application not repsoonding. Please help I have a save file on it which is really deep into the game. Thanks
