i doubt you can, since most of the decent 360 controllers have their own device name embedded

Let me preface this by saying that this is probably a stupid question, so if that's too annoying read no further and avoid a brain meltdown.

Alright, so I was wondering if it was possible to reassign buttons on the controller to do different things. In Dark Souls (admittedly the only game I have used xbcd for) on a mad catz controller three buttons do the same thing, a is the x function, y is the x function, and b is the y function. Certain actions in game are not possible. If there is a way to do this please let me know and thanks of course for providing these drivers.

Are you using the xinput wrapper (x360ce)?
Â
the default xbcd setup should have all buttons assigned to...buttons, including the triggers at the top, but this doesn't suit the 360 emulator too well as it requires the triggers to work on a scale.

Quick question over here - the install files are clean regarding virii and the like, yes? Avira antivirus finds the trojan "TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen" in the file "xbcdif.dll", so i'd like to know if this is to be expected before i continue installing.
Â
Thanks.

its a false positive on avira's part.
Â
Avira tends to find custom packers as trojans, thats why their false positive rate is so high

Alright, thanks.
I still can't get the driver to work properly. Using an XBox 360 gamepad on Win7 x64 here.
Â
The farthest i've come is this:
Uninstalled all XBox drivers and removed the device from device manager including drivers. Checked with pnputil to see if everything is gone. Looking good.
Unplugged the gamepad, restarted and reinstalled XBCD drivers. Plugged in the gamepad - windows installs default gamepad software. Changed drivers via device manager to XBCD, seems to be working so far (device shows up as XBCD controller).
However, when i start the setup utility none of the buttons / axis / triggers work - the gamepad shows up, but it doesn't work. When i hit refresh the utility freezes for a few seconds and then gives an error message telling me to make sure the device is plugged in. The gamepad then doesn't show up in the utility anymore, and at that point the pad gets marked with a yellow exclamation mark in the device manager. Reinstalling drivers doesn't remedy this, it seems the drivers are being installed properly but the device cannot be started.
Â
I'm sure i just have missed a step in the installation.. just not sure which. Ideas?
Â
Thanks!

[Edit]
I fixed the problem. The issue was caused by the USB 3.0 driver. After uninstalling it the gamepad is working again. Thanks /emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />
