Link function on VBA-M for OS Sierra
Hey, first time poster here.
Â
I've been using VBA-M for Mac for the past month or so to revisit some old pokemon faves. Currently, I'm trying to get trading working between my Silver and Crystal games (using one computer), but I haven't had any success. I'm running Mac OS Sierra (10.12.3).
Â
I'm using the version linked in this thread: http://vba-m.com/forum/thread-1568-post-6710.html#pid6710
Â
I've done a bit of poking around and experimenting based on tutorials for other versions of VBA-M. I launch VBA-M, and before loading any game, I go to Options > Link > Network Type > Wireless/Cable/Gamboy (I've tried all three using this process), then I use Terminal to launch a second instance of VBA-M, and in each I go to Start Network Link. In one window, I'll choose server and in the other I'll choose Client. In the client window I've tried both entering the address given in the Server window (as well as typing in "localhost" based on a youtube video I've watched), and hit connect. The dialogs disappear without any sort of connected notice, not sure if there's supposed to be one or not.
Â
Then I open the two games and go to the trading center, and it only gets as far as "Please wait," followed by "Your friend is not ready." That's as far as I've gotten.
Â
I've also tried Options > Link > Local Mode, and I get an error message saying the link driver cannot be found.
Â
Lastly, I noticed that when I am running two instances of VBA-M, neither seem to be able to recognize the regular battery save files (which is what I usually use), and I only get the option for New Game. I ended up resorting to using save states to be able to access my games when attempting trading.
Â
I'm just a casual user so I'm at a bit of a loss, so any tips or help as to where I've gone wrong would be greatly appreciated! Apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere, I've done a lot of looking over the past few days and haven't been able to find anything that helped.
