[FIXED]GBA Colour palette possible incorrect

I discovered this when testing Blargg's new option for outputting Audio via the GBA audio core when setting the Gameboy to GBA.

Certain games appear to be overbright, when using the emulator in GBA mode, however so far i've only found 2 games to be effected.

Oracle of Ages, and Oracle Of Seasons.

Further testing done on other GBC games, such as the Pokemon Gold/Silver and LoZ : Links Awakening, finds that these games are not effected by the problem at all.

Real colours is a menu toggleable option the choice is between Real colours, and Gameboy.

From what i gather, Real colours displays the colours as they would appear, if the GBA was connected to a fully backlit LCD panel, while Gameboy displays them as they would look on a standard non backlit GB/GBA. (Real is closer to a GBASP, while Gameboy is closer to an original GBA)

Both the images are taken with it set to display real colors, However, setting both to Gameboy, it is even worse /emoticons/huh@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />.

OK, i just found something which might be of value.

All of the Zelda games on GBC are MBC5, so its not related

Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal, and Links Awakening, under Rom info say they are Color:80, while the Oracles games, are Color:c0

edit... nvm, Pokemon Crystal is also c0 and its unaffected.... wierd /emoticons/huh@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

The Zelda Oracle of Ages/Seasons games contain features, such as a brighter color palette and a 100 Rupee store, that were only accessible when the game was played on GBA.

anyway we can make a mode which uses GBA sound hardware but the CGB graphics?

i also miss vba's ability to render the SGB border while the game itself is CGB /emoticons/sad@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Hm, maybe I can add a seperate option for the audio core wich hardware should be emulated. The question is just, if it causes any compatibility problems when emulating different kinds of hardware at the same time.

remember how it used to emulate the SGB Borders, while the emulated image was CGB, that was cool.

I took a few minutes today to compare your screenshots to real hardware. The screenshots are accurate. That is, the left part looked like it does on the CGB, and the right part like it does on the GBA. On the computer, I agree that the GBA version looks a little washed out, but it actually looks good on the first-gen GBA due to it's lack of lighting.

I doubt it. The color palette is not the only GBA-only feature in the game, so they're not going to turn off the GBA-only features for the SP. When the Oracle games were being made, the SP was not yet in development, so although they knew of the GBA, they did not know of the SP. It is therefore unlikely that they had a special SP mode for the games with all the other features except the new color palette.

The correct functionality, by which I mean accurate to the hardware, is to have the brighter palette.
