VBA slowdown idk why

I recently tried running Pokemon FireRed off the same save to trade pokemon and couldn't figure it out (prolly cause off the same file). Idk if it has anything to do with it but after making multiple saves on each client running since it asks to save before you trade, i eventually gave up. While doing this I noticed that both clients started to run slow. then I closed one thinking it was cause there was two running, but the game never returned to 100%. I really find it impossible to continue playing without it being at 100%, now it takes forever to complete actions. I tried deleting the folder in which I extracted everything and downloaded new VBA-M, but it still using whatever settings or w/e make it start running below 100%. IT fluxs between 30%-80%

EDIT: I also have VBA-M on my laptop with no problems whatsoever. Are there settings that the program uses that I have not deleted or changed that are causing this? I don't want to be stuck forever playing it only on my laptop.

Probably messed with some settings. You said you tried the trade thing, well there's an option(forgot which one) that slows the emulator down and makes it sound static-y. It involves the trade option, and deleting the emulator and re downloading it isn't going to help since the options are set in the registry of Windows.

Look at the options of the one on your laptop and change everything on the Desktop to match the one on the laptop.

that only slows down the max turbo rate.

no they aren't.

Really? How come the settings stick around globally then? The settings are applied for every VBA emulator, say if I have 2 or 3 each in different areas, the settings are always the same as I configured the first one. Regardless if I delete them or not.
